PangeaMT was the original machine translation and language technology brand developed by Pangeanic in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Valencia. After several PangeaMT academic papers and releases,  the brand was discontinued in favor of neural technologies. That spirit lives on in Pangeanic’s current enterprise machine translation stack, in Deep Adaptive AI Translation, and in ECO, the operational platform for secure document translation and multilingual AI workflows.

The confusion usually comes from treating a brand, an engine, a platform, and a public repository as if they were separate businesses. They are not. They are different stages and expressions of the same machine translation and multilingual AI capability, developed by one company.

From engine brand to operating layer

The lineage continued, but the technology and the level of integration changed

PangeaMT emerged when machine translation engines were presented as standalone products, connectors, or customization projects. Its first engines, developed with the Polytechnic University of Valencia, were statistical systems built as a commercial version of the open-source Moses platform. That made sense when the market focused on translation quality, language pairs, terminology adaptation, and direct integrations with CAT environments.

Two things changed after that. Neural models replaced statistical engines, and the PangeaMT brand was retired with them. Enterprise demand also moved beyond the isolated engine: organizations now need document reconstruction, data privacy, workflow control, retrieval, human review, quality estimation, API integration, secure deployment, and compatibility with broader multilingual AI systems.

For us at Pangeanic, machine translation remains central, but it now operates inside a complete production architecture rather than as a standalone engine brand. It reaches organizations through Pangeanic Machine Translation, Deep Adaptive AI Translation (with MTQE quality gates), ECO Translate, and the ECO Intelligence Platform.
