Project scope

Natural hand-object interactions in real environments

Pangeanic is looking for participants, local coordinators and field teams to record videos of hands manipulating objects in real settings. The goal is to capture natural actions such as opening, closing, moving, placing, sorting, assembling, cleaning, preparing, using tools and interacting with everyday or professional objects.

Recordings will use a multicamera setup: one first-person point-of-view camera and additional cameras on the left and right wrists. The footage must clearly show hand-object interaction while avoiding faces and visible personal data.

This opportunity is suitable for organized individuals, local coordinators, small audiovisual teams, gig worker communities, and field partners who can follow technical instructions with discipline.

Recording environments
Home and daily life: cooking, cleaning, organizing, using utensils, preparing objects, household tasks and everyday actions.
Commercial environments: small shops, storage rooms, offices, service spaces, product handling and repeatable work tasks.
Light industrial settings: simple assembly, sorting, manual tools, packaging, part handling and safe operational tasks.
Technical requirements

Multicamera recording and privacy-safe content

The value of the project lies in capturing real hand actions from several angles while following a strict privacy protocol. Sessions must be prepared to avoid faces, personal data, screens with sensitive information or identifiable elements in the environment.

First-person camera Point-of-view capture showing the task as a person would perform it.
Wrist cameras Left-wrist and right-wrist views to capture detailed hand motion from both sides.
No faces Recordings must not include the faces of participants, bystanders, customers, family members or third parties.
No personal data Documents, screens, addresses, license plates, names, phone numbers, emails and personal marks must be avoided.
Natural actions Tasks should look real, complete and repeatable rather than artificial movements without context.
Quality control Footage will be reviewed for clarity, stability, hand visibility, absence of personal data, and protocol compliance.
Who should apply

We are looking for people and teams who can record with discipline

  • Individual participants: people who can perform natural object-based tasks while following a recording protocol.
  • Local coordinators: people able to recruit participants, organize sessions and check that footage follows instructions.
  • Small audiovisual teams: teams with basic experience in recording, camera setup and quality control.
  • Gig worker communities: networks capable of executing repeatable tasks with tracking, documentation, and organized delivery.
  • Field partners: small or medium organizations able to scale collection across several environments and countries.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to show my face?
No. This project requires no-face recordings. The goal is to capture hands and objects, not personal identity.
What does privacy-safe recording mean?
It means the video must not show personally identifiable information: faces, documents, names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, license plates, screens with data or any element that could identify a person.
Do I need professional equipment?
Not always. It will depend on the final project protocol. Cameras, mounts or compatible phones are useful, but the ability to follow instructions and maintain consistent quality is also important.
Can I participate as a coordinator?
Yes. If you can recruit participants, organize sessions, verify privacy requirements and check quality before delivery, please include that in your application.
What type of tasks are recorded?
Real tasks with objects: handling tools, organizing, cooking, cleaning, packaging, sorting, assembling simple parts, opening and closing objects, using utensils or performing repeatable hand actions.
